Hosta 'Mrs Minky'Blooms of Bressingham have launched six stunning new Bressingham selected perennial plants during 2004 which will appeal to gardeners everywhere. Developed by Blooms New Plant Marketing, they were launched at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May 2004 and include three Verbascums, a new Campanula, a Hosta with golden yellow foliage and a pretty variegated evergreen Veronica. All were available for gardeners to buy in the UK from May 2004 at garden centres and online. Hosta 'Mrs Minky' was discovered in 1989, when professional landscape gardener Peter Hall from Fareham, Hampshire crossed Hosta 'Piedmont Gold' and Hosta minor. Hosta 'Mrs Minky' is the result, but trialling this new Hosta with its impressive golden yellow leaves took several years before commercial production commenced. From growing on from seed, Peter had wait five years to ensure a mature plant remained true to type and that the foliage didn't revert. Further trials over three growing seasons ensured this beautiful new Hosta was reliable and stable.
