 Helleborus 'Silver Lace'This is a really beautiful cultivar of the Corsican Hellebore. The silver / blue grey foliage with a lace pattern overlayed when it emerges new in May is quite lovely, and although the colouring fades to a degree with the onset of summer and winter, it still makes this a standout and easily identifiable plant in the garden. It was originally shown at the Chelsea Flower Show as 'RD Plants Silver' way back in 1999 (I'll have to check - or you can in the 'Chelsea plants' archive at the navigation bar). This was because it was a seedling originally nurtured at RD Plants Nursery in Devon (Rodney Davey and Lynda Windsor) , but a French nursery also laid claim to the original (similar?) plant - and I never found out what the final result was - if you know, please do let me know. Whatever it's original background, it later turned up with the name Helleborus 'Silver Lace' and a fancy label in UK garden centres in early 2001 - launched by the PlantNet Uk group of nurseries. It prefers full sun to partial shade with a good fertile decently drained soil and it grows no larger than 90 cm x 90 cm.
