Podocarpus 'Icee blue'

Podocarpus elongatus has long been a favorite decorative conifer in the Southern part of the USA.
The cultivar 'Icee Blue' ('Monmal') was originally introduced in 1996 is the only Podocarpus with blue-grey green foliage, and its dense foliage keeps its stunning color year-round.
This beautiful evergreen tree has a natural pyramidal shape and looks great as a screen, hedge or specimen, or in a woodland garden.
It does well in containers, or as a patio tree.
From a rounded crown, its dense pendant branches create a soft, graceful effect. Its long narrow leaves, two to three inches long, have a fern-like appearance.
They are a vibrant blue-grey when new and mature to a cool blue-grey green. This exceptional variety was discovered in South Africa and is a slow grower, to 15-25 feet tall and 10-12 feet wide.
Full sun to part shade and this Podocarpus (Yellow Wood) prefers sandy, well-drained, alkaline soils.
